BAREG divers joined NOAA staff archaeologists in Beaufort, N.C., to survey and document the merchant vessel Caribsea. The 10-day expedition ran from May 23 until June 1 out of Beaufort N.C. A comprehensive site map of the shipwreck was produced, which NOAA used to create a dive slate that was given to local North Carolina dive shops and operators to be used as a guide for diving on the wreck site. Figure 2 depicts the site plan based on the results of the survey.
