• Kriegsmarine officer’s cap recovered after the 5&6 May 1945 attack on and sinking of the U-853 off Block Island, Rhode Island. The cap is on display aboard the museum ship USS Slater (DE-766), the only surviving afloat destroyer escort from WWII, berthed on the Hudson River in Albany, NY.
