Over the weekend of 2&3 December 2023, seven BAREG members conducted fall buoy operations and retrieved the U-1105 mooring buoy from the wreck site and returned it to Tall Timbers Marina for cleaning and maintenance.
BAREG buoy ops requires detaching the mooring chain and carefully lowering it to the river bottom. Unlike the non-technical dive group that previously did this work, BAREG’s technical divers use their dive training and planning skills to avoid dropping the mooring chain on the U-boat and potentially damaging the wreck. For BAREG, protecting the historic U-boat is second only to diver safety.
